Video games are a unique and ever-evolving way for people to interact; some games offer limited ways to connect with others, while others are built entirely around the concept of socializing. Speaking of communication, there’s an act of teabagging in video games…

Different video games are drawn from real life – and from each other – people can sometimes communicate in seemingly odd ways.

Teabagging is one such way. So what is teabagging, what does it mean, and why is it so satisfying for people who do it? In this article, we will answer these questions.

What is teabagging in video games?

“Teabagging” in the context of video games refers to the act of standing above another player’s body while crouching repeatedly. In most games, this is usually done after knocking down the opponent.

Teabagging is generally considered an act of bad manners in most games, as it is meant to taunt the teabag player.

Why do people take tea in video games?

For many players, the tea bag is satisfying because it is a symbol of victory. This can be especially satisfying if it took a long time to down the other player.

Not only is it a celebration of a player’s victory, however; it’s also a way to humiliate other players after they make a mistake.

Some people feel enraged or upset when another player gives them a tea bag, as it can be seen as rubbing salt on a fresh wound. This is why the tea bag is so often considered a bad manner.

Which video games have teabagging?

Teabagging occurs in nearly every online multiplayer game with a crouch feature and has even made its way into fighting games. Dead by Daylight, Call of Duty, Warzone, and Splitgate all allow users to take a teabag, albeit mostly unintentionally.

Teabagging is especially common in FPS games because they tend to feature a kill cam.

Splitgate even features a Teabag Confirmed game mode, where players must put a teabag on downed opponents to confirm the kill. This mode, which encourages teabagging, is a totally different approach to other games that tend to discourage it.
