For a short time, the two remaining Xbox Live Gold titles for October 2021 are now available for subscribers to download.
The Xbox Game Pass has been a great success for Microsoft in constantly increasing its subscription rate. On the other hand, however, Xbox Live Gold subscribers did not receive the most enticing titles. This recently started to change in September, with subscribers receiving free titles such as Enders Zone HD Collection and Samurai Shodown 2.
This September excitement seems to continue into October. Earlier this month, Xbox Live Gold members received Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, and Aero October 15th being the last day to claim Castlevania, and October 31 being the last day to claim Aero. Today, a new bundle of free games for Xbox Live Gold members is available for download for a limited time only.
Starting today, Xbox Live Gold members can download Resident Evil Code: Veronica X and Float, with October 31 being the last day to download Resident Evil and November 15 being the last for Hover. Both titles are also available for download for users who are members of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Hover is a multiplayer parkour open world where users can perform a variety of tricks and complete different challenges to upgrade their gear. Meanwhile, for horror fanatics, Resident Evil Code: Veronica X became available at the right time after Claire after the events in Resident Evil 2.
With the inclusion of Resident Evil Code: Veronica X, now available for download, and with Castlevania: Harmony of Despair After dropping earlier this month, October has been a very strong month for Xbox Live Gold members, and while it doesn’t include any next-gen titles, Xbox Live Gold is starting to compete with PlayStation Plus.
It’s still a bit early to say whether or not this streak will continue in the next few months, but with the free Xbox games in September, and now October, things are starting to improve for the service. With recent Xbox Live Gold titles being as old as they are, however, it shows that few people are concerned about including next-gen or recent titles in the service as long as the games available are popular and exciting.
With Xbox Game Pass currently so big, it makes sense that Xbox Live Gold members receive older, quality games as compensation for the new ones. Just recently, Xbox Game Pass subscribers were able to start playing Back 4 Blood as part of the service, a brand new exciting multiplayer title. It looks like Microsoft will continue to look for new big AA and AAA titles to include in Xbox Game Pass while Xbox Live Gold will focus on some older classics. It’s not entirely sure that this is the path Microsoft will continue to take, but even if it is, it is a path that will benefit all users.
