Sometimes you don’t have big stacks of money to splash on the games. This is the cruel truth of modern life. But that doesn’t mean you’ll have to give up playing something awesome on your phone or tablet. Far from it, in fact.
As we hope to prove in this list here. It’s an in-no-order account of the best games money can’t buy on the play store. Sure, there are ads and IAPs, but there are also amazing experiences waiting to be discovered.
You can click on the game names below to download them from the Play Store. None of them will cost you anything to try. And if you have your own favorite free game, be sure to let us know in the comments section.
A wonderful sandboarding sequel that builds on some of the original’s ideas as well as some of its own. It’s mesmerizing in all the right ways, and once you start playing it’s damn hard to put down.
One of, if not the, best shooters available on the play store. It’s packed with multiplayer firefights in a bunch of different rotating modes. And you can enjoy it without spending a single penny.
A version of one of the most popular games in the world, designed from the ground up for mobile play. It’s super slick and offers a deep MOBA experience that’s easy to pick up but challenging – and super satisfying – to master.
A stunning open-world gacha RPG that lets you explore a fantasy universe. It’s full of action, it has a great story and sometimes you just want to watch it and drool. And you can team up with friends playing on different platforms.
Sure, it’s been a while now, but it’s still hard to beat Clash Royale’s mini-MOBA design. Collect cards, attack towers, slowly get addicted to an almost pathological level. This is snack play at its best.
For those of you who haven’t been paying attention in the past couple of years, Among Us is a gaming phenomenon that has taken the world by storm. It is an asynchronous multiplayer experience involving murder and accusation, which takes place on a spaceship. And that’s really good.
A super smart card game that lets you use a deck to sneak around and steal shiny loot. Any development game could have made the list, really, but this one is our favorite, and we’re writing it.
Build a civilization, battle against other civilizations, controlled by AI and players. It’s a super deep experience that will suck you in if you have a penchant for massive planning and empire building.
Again, we could have put most of Nitrome’s games on this list because they are free and amazing. This one sees you blasting your way through dungeons, battling monsters, and trying not to die. It’s easy to figure out, but there’s a big challenge on those familiar bones.
A sideways version of the chaotic car-based football game. It captures everything that makes the home version so great, but distills it down into chewy little bits of fun. There’s depth here too, and plenty of hilarity and tight-fisted antics.
