PlayStation Plus subscribers on Reddit are threatening to end their April free PS Plus games subscription. For the month of April, PS Plus subscribers on PS4 and PS5 are entitled to three games: kill the arrow, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydratedand Hood: Legends and Outlaws. Compared to the standards for the subscription service set this year alone, it’s been a disappointing month. That’s still light years beyond what Games With Gold is offering Xbox Live Gold subscribers, but especially in the past month, many PS Plus subscribers can’t help but feel disappointed.
On the PS Plus Reddit page, in a thread dedicated to reviewing the April deal, users expressed their displeasure with the month’s deal, with Hood: Legends and Outlaws get the most flack.
“Hood is another dead multiplayer game and I’m not interested in card games (Kill the Spire) but it can be great for some people, I can understand that. I don’t like SpongeBob either, but this is the best of them for me,” reads one of the best answers. “But Sony should really stop giving multiplayer games dead. Every time they give a multiplayer game dead I will swear more. They even become free-to-play after giving it away (Knockout City). “And I don’t understand people who say ‘These are free games, you shouldn’t complain.’ I don’t care if they’re free or not. I have an expectation and the disappointment is real all the time. If you don’t expect anything, I’m happy for you.”
“Once the new PS Plus is released, I will seriously reconsider whether to renew,” another response read. “The only online game I play is rocket league and if the quality of Essential tier play goes in the direction of Games with Gold, the only factor would be the accumulated games I have on Plus.”
“Why do I keep paying for this service,” asks another answer, with follow-ups of others asking the same question and confirming that they are getting ready to get rid of their subscriptions, or at least that they plan to do so.
Of course, not all of these negative reviews are indicative of PlayStation Plus subscribers as a whole; good or bad, most subscribers do not comment on any given programming. That said, at least on the PlayStation Plus Reddit page, it’s easily the most hated month so far this year.
