New free PlayStation Plus games for January now available

The free PlayStation Plus video games for January 2022 are now available. As previously announced, the free video games offered this month to PlayStation Plus subscribers include Persona 5 Strikers, Dirt 5, and Galactic Deep Rock. As is usually the case with PlayStation Plus video games, there are some very specific caveats attached to all of this.

Most notably, while PlayStation Plus regularly offers PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 titles as well as the occasional PlayStation VR giveaway, Persona 5 attackers is only free to claim a PlayStation 4 title when both Dirt 5 and Galactic Deep Rock are for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Unlike last month’s PlayStation Plus titles, none of these have other conditions attached like some sort of starter edition; these are all full games.

In addition, free PlayStation Plus titles are as always “free” only to PlayStation Plus subscribers. And even to subscribers, only for a limited time. Just as the December 2021 free offers were renewed today, the January 2022 free PlayStation Plus titles will be renewed on February 1. The claimed PlayStation Plus games are also linked to the subscription, so if a player who has claimed a game lets their subscription expire, access to the claimed video game will be revoked until the subscription is active again. That said, the claimed titles remain attached to the account, so everyone’s access will be restored at this point.

As noted above, the free PlayStation Plus video games of January 2022 – Persona 5 Strikers, Dirt 5, and Galactic Deep Rock – are now available. The group of them are expected to roll out free offers from the service on Tuesday, February 1. At this point, it’s unclear what the free PlayStation Plus February video games might be, but it seems fair to assume that they will leak ahead of time.
