New PS+ game trial now available

Fans have noticed that Phoenix Point Behemoth Edition has been added to the PS Plus Premium free game trial tier for August 2022 in select regions, with another expected to follow later this month.

This means you can play a snippet of turn-based action before deciding if you want to buy the full version.

From what has been shared by fans online, the Phoenix Point Behemoth Edition is available as a free trial for two hours, meaning you’re limited in what you can experience.

The new game trial is available through the PlayStation Plus tab on PS4 and PS5 consoles, and the full version will set you back $32.99 on the PS Store. And while it may be limited to certain regions, fans have also been informed that Rollerdrome will be added as a premium free game on August 16th.

It should be noted that all trophies and game save data from the trial period will carry over if you purchase the game, and any trophies earned during your time-limited game trial through the PlayStation Plus Premium plan will remain on your PSN profile, even after you complete the trial and decide not to purchase the title.

For those who have never played it, Phoenix Point is a new game designed by Julian Gollop, the original creator of the XCOM series. And it shares a lot of DNA with those original ’90s titles, with players controlling a squad of soldiers as they take on a global threat.

There’s both turn-based action, where you’ll control your team on the field, selecting their individual loadouts before looking to take out an opposing force, while being limited to a certain number of moves and actions. Much of the game revolves around building your own base on a world map, which involves researching new technologies scavenged from your most recent encounters.

And here are some of the other current PS Plus Premium game trials you can access via the PlayStation Store if turn-based strategy isn’t your favorite genre:

  • Forbidden Horizon West
  • The wonders of Tiny Tina
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Olli Olli World
  • WWE 2K22
  • UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection
  • Hot Wheels Unleashed
  • LEGO CITY undercover
  • Biomutant
  • Farming Simulator 22
  • MotoGP 22
  • ELEX 2
  • Crusader Kings III
