A moving autorickshaw suddenly exploded in Mangaluru, Karnataka on Sunday, sparking a fire and thick smoke. News of the injuries to the driver of the car and a passenger came to the fore. CCTV footage from the area shared by police showed the autorickshaw bursting into flames.
Initially, the police chief did not classify it as an explosion, but after some time the DGP of Karnataka said that it has now been confirmed that it was an intentional explosion and not of an accident. They said the explosion was not accidental, but a terrorist act with the intention of causing serious damage. Karnataka State Police are interviewing him extensively with central agencies.
CM Bommai gave information
Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai gave information on suspected bomb blast in Mangaluru on Saturday. He said that after investigation it turned out that it was not an accident but a terrorist attack. Not only that, it has also been learned that the suspect who carried out the bombings has ties to terrorists.
He said when the suspect’s background check was carried out, it was found that the name written on the Aadhaar card recovered at the scene was different from that of the person carrying it. The suspect had a duplicate Aadhaar card and had Hubli’s address. More details emerged later when police tracked down the suspect’s home address and whereabouts.
The investigation team has been formed: police commissioner
The police commissioner said he formed a special team and called the FSL (Forensic Science Lab) team to verify the cause of the incident. The injured passenger is currently being treated. Regarding the condition of the injured, the police commissioner said he had not spoken to hospital authorities.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Gyanendra made a big statement and said the state police have opened a thorough investigation into the Mangaluru rickshaw explosion incident. Wounded in battle are cared for. It is feared that this is a terrorist incident. The Central Investigation Team will also join with state police to find the root cause of this explosion.
