At the time of this writing, PSMore‘ the formal tier system is only a week and a day away. PS Plus will be split into three new tiers, including PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra, and PS Plus Premium. These final levels will provide players with a huge library of PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, PS4, and PS5 games, along with other bonuses like game trials. It even seems that some games like Wander will join PS Plus tiers from day one.
Day one games, while not exclusive to PlayStation, will go a long way to making PS Plus more competitive with Xbox Game Pass. Yet this month is something of a vacuum between the old guard and the new. PS Plus Free Games May 2022 will soon be replaced by New Games June 2022, meaning June 2022 will be the last game running under the old rules.
When the June 2022 PS Plus free games are replaced by the July 2022 games, it stands to reason that they’ll be playing by new rules, which means it’s the last month of the old guard. PS Plus subscribers will be able to claim God of War, from Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Strikerand Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl from June 7 to July 5, but this may be the last month to offer three games.
PS Plus free games June 2022 are a buffer between PS Plus and PS Plus Essential
For North America, the PS Plus tiered system will be released on June 13. Once the ball really gets going, fans will hear about new PS Plus Extra and Premium games around the middle of each month, as revealed by Sony. This means new games will always be announced towards the end/beginning of a month and release first, with PS Plus Extra and Premium announcements coming in the middle of the month.
Wander on the higher PS Plus tiers shows just how much Sony intends to focus there, but combined with another element, it shows how the new guard will be different from another. It may have flown under many radars, but Sony has suggested that the selection of free PS Plus games each month will be two games. This undoubtedly pushes more consumers to the higher tiers, but those who want the most basic tier lose the most.
It’s been a while since PS Plus released two free games, but it looks like that could very well be the status quo going forward. This means that PS Plus Essential will, from July, offer one less game than before. If the trade-off means more games for PS Plus Extra and Premium, that might be an interesting change; however, it ultimately remains to be seen just how much the new guard really changes things.
PSMore subscribers get a handful of new games.
