The Epic Games Store is giving away two new free games while also confirming new free games for next week, which includes a horror hit.
Every Thursday at 10 a.m. CT, the Epic Games Store is rotating its selection of free games users can claim, removing titles from the previous week, adding a pair of new games and revealing what users can expect from next week’s deals. Thursday, April 14 is no different, with the Epic Games Store saying goodbye to last week’s free games and giving away two new free games for users to claim right now.
From now until Thursday, April 21 at 10:00 CT, Epic Games Store users can claim Insurmountable and XCOM 2 free. XCOM 2 is easily one of the biggest free Epic Games Store games the launcher has ever offered, as it was both a commercial and critical success. Winning several awards the year of its release, XCOM 2 is widely regarded as one of the best turn-based strategy games of recent years, so it’s really exciting to see it offered for free through the Epic Games Store.
Insurmountable may not have the brand recognition that XCOM 2 a, but that doesn’t mean you have to sleep on it. A climbing survival game, Insurmountable earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release. Anyone interested in the genre should consider grabbing it for their Epic Games Store library while it’s free, especially since there are no strings attached. The only thing everyone has to do to get the free games is to download the launcher and claim them.
Epic Games Store Free Games for April 2022
- Insurmountable (April 14 – April 21)
- XCOM 2 (April 14 – April 21)
- Amnesia: Rebirth (April 21 – April 28)
- Riverbond (April 21 – April 28)
Insurmountable and XCOM 2 are the Epic Games Store free games for this week, but next week will bring a pair of new games to the Epic Games Store free games lineup. From April 21 to April 28, Epic Games Store users can expect to claim Amnesia: Rebirth and Riverbond.
Amnesia: Rebirth is the last opus of the Amnesia survival horror series. It has direct narrative ties to the original game, while providing new scares in a new desert location. Amnesia: Rebirth received mostly positive reviews and is certainly a solid survival horror experience for those who can handle it. Riverbond, meanwhile, is a cooperative adventure game with a voxel art style. They are two very different types of games, but the variety will likely be appreciated by Epic Games Store users.
